As part of its commitment to strengthening the quality of its admissions process, Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) has adopted the California Critical Thinking Skills Test (CCTST) as part of its admission assessment for students.
The move reflects a growing focus on looking beyond academic qualifications and understanding the thinking skills that students bring with them into higher education.
Admission decisions are often built around academic records, grades, and prior achievements. While these indicators provide valuable information, they do not always reveal how a student approaches information, evaluates evidence, analyses a problem, or reaches a reasoned conclusion.
The CCTST is developed by Insight Assessment and localized by Thinking Oasis for the MENA region. It provides a scientifically developed and validated way to assess core critical thinking skills, including analysis, interpretation, inference, evaluation, explanation, induction, deduction, and numeracy.
By incorporating the CCTST into its admission process, PSUT is taking a step toward a more comprehensive view of student readiness, one that considers not only what students know, but how they think and reason with what they know.
