Young Innovators Lab – Cohort 7 Projects
NeutroBin – The Smart Waste Bin
Intelligence that sorts, an environment that benefits.
The innovators developed a smart waste bin that classifies items into four categories: paper, plastic, metal, and organic waste. The sorting process begins as soon as an item is placed at the bin’s entry point, where a camera captures an image and sends it to an AI model trained by the innovators to distinguish between the four types. Once the model identifies the item, motors move the designated bins so that the correct one aligns with the entry point.Image by image, we simplify waste sorting and recycling, paving the way toward true sustainability.

Smart Firefighting Vehicle
We extinguish the fire… and protect those who face it.
An intelligent innovation that leverages artificial intelligence technologies for early fire detection and analysis. The innovators trained an AI model to identify fires and trigger an immediate and effective response to extinguish them, significantly reducing the level of risk faced by firefighters during emergency interventions.

Kidnapping Tracker
The smart wristband that monitors a child moment by moment.
The wristband relies on advanced sensors to measure potential risk indicators such as heart rate, changes in movement, and distance. When any abnormal reading is detected, the wristband vibrates to alert the child and gives them the opportunity to confirm their safety through a dedicated button. If the button is not pressed, the device sends an immediate alert to the parents, indicating a possible danger. With this technology, the wristband becomes the first line of defense in protecting children, giving parents peace of mind and confidence that their loved ones are always safe.

Roadside Wind Energy
Energy generated by roads… unseen, yet making a difference.
The innovators’ curiosity led them to ask: Can the airflow created by moving vehicles be converted into real, usable energy?
From this question, the development of a vertical axis turbine with a helical design began, specifically engineered to capture the wind generated by vehicles traveling on highways. The turbine blades convert wind energy into mechanical energy, which is then transferred to a gearbox that increases the rotational speed, driving an electric generator. The generated electrical energy is stored in a battery, ready for use.
The result is a low cost, easy to install, environmentally friendly system that can be implemented on highways across Jordan.

Earthquake Protection Bed
An innovative solution to enhance home safety during earthquakes.
The innovators developed the Protection Triangle, a smart bed that provides a safe shelter during earthquakes. The bed operates through an intelligent mechanism that detects vibrations and automatically secures its sides, creating a protected space that helps reduce the risk of injury during seismic events.

Asthma Watch
The watch that monitors the air for you.
For people with asthma, air quality is often a constant concern. That’s why the innovators designed the Asthma Watch to intelligently and continuously monitor the air surrounding the wearer. The watch measures air quality and detects any factors that may affect breathing. Upon detecting a potential threat, it immediately sends an alert to the wearer or their guardian.
