Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is a global movement celebrating the achievements of entrepreneurship and fostering an environment that inspires the next generation of entrepreneurs. Taking place annually, GEW brings together millions of individuals and organizations to champion entrepreneurial behavior and innovation worldwide.
In Jordan, the entrepreneurial ecosystem has thrived over the years, marked by the emergence of new resources for funding, incubation, and mentorship. Since 2009, the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE) has spearheaded Jordan’s GEW efforts, uniting people and organizations to cultivate a fertile environment for entrepreneurial endeavors.
This year, QRCE coordinated an impressive array of activities:
- 1,200 Activities
- 265 Partners
- 25,000+ Participants
- 12 Cities Across Jordan
Thinking Oasis proudly joined as a partner for GEW 2024, focusing on the critical theme of Education. As advocates for critical thinking, innovation, and societal transformation, our mission closely aligns with GEW’s goals of fostering inclusion, policy development, and ecosystem growth. Education, a cornerstone of entrepreneurial success, was central to our contribution throughout the week.
Thinking Oasis Activities: Igniting Minds Through Education and Innovation
During Global Entrepreneurship Week 2024, Thinking Oasis focused on creating transformative learning experiences for youth and educators. Each activity was thoughtfully designed to equip participants with essential skills for entrepreneurship, innovation, and critical thinking, fostering a mindset that transcends traditional education.
In Jabal Al-Natheef at Ruwwad Al-Tanmeya, the Socrati Session brought together a group of enthusiastic teenagers aged 15-16. Guided by the theme "Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development," participants explored how entrepreneurial thinking can solve real-world challenges. Through dynamic discussions and interactive exercises, students gained critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of the relationship between innovation and social impact. By the end of the session, the youth left empowered with ideas on how they could contribute to their communities through entrepreneurial initiatives.
At Balakoneh Community in Sahab, Thinking Oasis delevered an engaging workshop on Product Design and 3D Printing. This hands-on session introduced young adults aged 18-25 to the fundamentals of product design, combined with the technical application of 3D printing. Participants learned to transform their creative ideas into tangible prototypes, discovering how design thinking and technology intersect to drive innovation. The workshop emphasized problem-solving, teamwork, and the importance of iteration in the product development process, leaving participants inspired to explore careers in design and technology.
For educators, Thinking Oasis offered a session titled AI in Education, held at the Jubilee Institute. This innovative session introduced teachers to the possibilities of integrating artificial intelligence into their classrooms to enhance learning outcomes. Teachers explored practical tools and strategies for using AI to personalize education, analyze student progress, and inspire creativity. Beyond technology, the session empowered educators to embrace change and adopt forward-thinking approaches in their teaching practices, ultimately benefitting their students.
Meanwhile, at Amman Baptist School, we facilitated a second Socrati Session tailored for Grade 10 students. This workshop provided a platform for young minds to delve into the principles of entrepreneurship and sustainability. Participants engaged in guided discussions, discovering how critical thinking could help them address societal challenges innovatively. The session inspired students to see themselves as change-makers within their school, ready to take on challenges with confidence and creativity.
